90th Anniversary
The library held a year-long celebration of the 90th Anniversary in 2016.
Cupola Restoration

Fines Eliminated
In July 2018, the library eliminated overdue fines from most items.
Telescope Collection
In 2014, the library became one of the first libraries in the St. Louis area to loan out telescopes through a partnership with the St. Louis Astronomical Society.
Fines Reduced
In 2016, library overdue fines were reduced from $0.25 to $0.10 per day for most items.
Children’s Room Groundbreaking
On January 7, 2017 a groundbreaking ceremony was held as the renovation began.
Children’s Room Grand Opening
In April 2017, the library hosted a grand opening celebration for the newly remodeled Children’s Room.
Children’s Room Donation
In 2016, KPL received a $733,000 donation from the Earl E. and Myrtle E. Walker Foundation, and the Edward Chase Garvey Foundation, and an anonymous donor to transform the Children’s Room into an interactive center focused on the whole child. These images depict the room prior to the renovation.
